FAQ

As with any technical subject there is a lot of jargon.  There are many parts to an LPG conversion, many companies which claim to have the best in terms of economy, green fuel helping the environment and the many technical aspects to a conversion.  To help you, our operations manager, Rob Carnell is here to explain all aspects of an LPG conversion.

  LPG Daily usage

How your LPG Conversion works from day to day.

The LPG system is designed for daily use by real people with little or no technical knowledge.  The LPG converted vehicle initially starts on petrol, (from hot or cold) then automatically and smoothly changes to LPG whilst stationary or even while mobile.

As well as the petrol gauge, the LPG contents level is displayed by a series of LED lights on a small dashboard mounted switch panel, similar to your other fuel gauge.  Once the LPG tank contents have been used, the system will automatically revert to petrol mode, indicated to the driver by an audible buzzer sounding, silenced by a gentle touch of the switch panel.

The additional LPG fuel tank can be either in the boot where the spare wheel would be in the spare wheel well, using a toroidal tank, or in some cases where a greater mileage range is wanted, it may be possible to install a cylinder, which will generally allow for a larger LPG capacity.

How the Changeover works:

When a vaporiser, or temperature sensor reaches a preset value, set within the LPG control unit, meaning the vaporisation process of the liquefied gas can occur, the control unit then powers a solenoid allowing vapour to the gas injectors and the petrol injectors to stop operation.  Changeover occurs with no decrease in power whilst moving for optimum performance.

Refilling your LPG converted car.

To refill with LPG, an LPG filling point is fitted, usually in the rear quarter panel, which incorporates a safety cap and the industry standard filling nozzle.  Full details on the simple task of filling your LPG tank are given to you and are demonstrated by our staff, on collection of your vehicle who will answer any questions you may have, and ensure that you are entirely comfortable with the procedure.

Save up to 40% on fuel costs

Rising tax on Petrol and a low tax on LPG means that LPG conversion is an economical choice for all motorists. With an overall lower cost for the fuel and an exemption to congestion charges, this all means handfuls of cash to spend on something more interesting.
