As with any technical subject there is a lot of jargon.  There are many parts to an LPG conversion, many companies which claim to have the best in terms of economy, green fuel helping the environment and the many technical aspects to a conversion.  To help you, our operations manager, Rob Carnell is here to explain all aspects of an LPG conversion.

Why choose LPG for your vehicle

See some of the types of vehicle we convert to LPG

Here are just a few of the reasons why LPG is such a great choice:

LPG Conversion for vehicles creates a safe, easy and, best of all, much cheaper fuel than petrol or diesel.

Of the three fuels, LPG has been shown to be much more environmentally friendly through recent independent tests.

LPG emits similar Carbon Dioxide to diesel and considerably less than petrol.  LPG is also much cleaner than diesel in terms of other chemicals such as Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) and fine particulates which impact on our local air quality. A study recently completed, comparing the emissions from petrol, diesel and LPG vehicles found that:

  1. Compared with petrol, vehicles running on LPG emit about 20% less CO2.

  2. One diesel car is equivalent to 20 LPG cars with regard to NOx, and 120 LPG vehicles with regard to particulates.

  3. Diesel emits substantially more fine particles than LPG.

LPG is better for your engine.

Because it is much more of a simple chemical structure, with fewer impurities such as sulphur, means it’s clean burning, and it burns more efficiently than petrol or diesel as it is already in gaseous form when it enters the combustion cylinder.

You will also have a smoother, longer lasting engine with LPG because there are fewer deposits which build up in your car engine.

You get a quieter ride with LPG

You won't have to turn the stereo up any more as noise levels are significantly less than with diesel engines.

Our LPG systems are bi-fuel

You will not have to be reliant on any single fuel, you can have a your other fuel tank still, and an LPG tank with the engine running on either.  Changing from one fuel to the other is simple, you can change from one fuel to the other at the flick of a switch.

Worldwide success of LPG

There are now over 10 million LPG vehicles in operation worldwide.  South Korea leads the field with over a 1.7 million, followed by Italy, Poland and Turkey with over 1 million vehicles. The UK currently has over 128,000 vehicles running on LPG.

The Queen leads by example.

Several of the vehicles owned by the Queen are powered by LPG - Four royal cars - a 1960 Rolls-Royce Phantom V, a Daimler Limousine, a Rover 400 and the Metrocab favoured by Prince Philip - have so far been converted to run on liquid petroleum gas.
